Some of the best fly fishing in the state can be had in the rivers and lakes of South Park, Colorado. South Park offers Gold Medal fly fishing near Colorado Springs, less than an hours drive. Two of the best river locations to fish for trout in South Park are the "Dream Stream" and Tomahawk State Wildlife Area. The "Dream Stream" is a tailwater that begins below Spinney Mountain Reservoir and winds its way through open grassland eventually finding its way into Elevenmile Reservoir. The river also gets some large rainbow and brown trout that swim up from Elevenmile Reservoir to spawn in the spring and fall, respectively.
